15\u00a0<\/span>\u201cI am\u00a0the true vine,\u00a0and my Father is the gardener.<\/span><\/span>\u00a02\u00a0<\/sup>He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit,\u00a0while every branch that does bear fruit\u00a0he prunes[a<\/a>]<\/sup>\u00a0so that it will be even more fruitful.<\/span><\/span>\u00a03\u00a0<\/sup>You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.<\/span><\/span>\u00a04\u00a0<\/sup>Remain in me, as I also remain in you.\u00a0No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cI am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit;\u00a0apart from me you can do nothing.<\/span><\/span>\u00a06\u00a0<\/sup>If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.<\/span><\/span>\u00a07\u00a0<\/sup>If you remain in me\u00a0and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.<\/span><\/span>\u00a08\u00a0<\/sup>This is to my Father\u2019s glory,\u00a0that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

9\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cAs the Father has loved me,\u00a0so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.<\/span><\/span>\u00a010\u00a0<\/sup>If you keep my commands,\u00a0you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father\u2019s commands and remain in his love.<\/span><\/span>\u00a011\u00a0<\/sup>I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.<\/span><\/span>\u00a012\u00a0<\/sup>My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.<\/span><\/span>\u00a013\u00a0<\/sup>Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one\u2019s life for one\u2019s friends.<\/span><\/span>\u00a014\u00a0<\/sup>You are my friends\u00a0if you do what I command.<\/span><\/span>\u00a015\u00a0<\/sup>I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master\u2019s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.<\/span><\/span>\u00a016\u00a0<\/sup>You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you\u00a0so that you might go and bear fruit\u2014fruit that will last\u2014and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.<\/span><\/span>
